Linksys WRT54GS2 not working

I had to trash my 2 year old wrt54g due to a screw up when changing the firmware. This router worked great the time I had it. I went and bought a brand new WRT54GS2 today and can not get online either wired or wireless. I spent hours on the phone with Linksys tech support with no solution. They state that the software in the router may be bad. Anyone else have a recommendation? In my 2 years with WB, only one out of 4 routers I've bought has worked. Is this a WB problem?

Still using my Linksys BEFSX41 with beta software of years ago.

I assume you went thru config menus....

What is your computer's Subnet Mask address??? Does it match in router?

I have a WRT54GS running 7.2.03 firmware. Works fine.

I did have problems with an older Linksys BEFWS11V4. When the firmware was up-to-date, the router was unstable. When I used old firmware, it would work much better. Play around with firmware revisions. Try 7.2.03 if you can find it.

Well, I returned the WRT54GS2 and came home with an assortment of routers hoping one would work. A Netgear WGR614 had everything up and running in less than 10 minutes. I'm now headed back to town to return the others. Guess the WRT54GS2 was bad.

I doubt it was bad, it just didn't work with WB.

I'm glad you got it fixed.

Probably, but a computer tech I spoke with at Staples, who is a beta tester with Linksys, says they're having a lot of problems with the newer models.
