I don't understand the point of the demonstration -- are there any plans to provide such speed plans to customers in the forseeable future?

I doubt it...unless you live where spot beams are not fully used....then you might inquire.

Could just be a demo (and like Via-Sat's video) designed to support a "broadband to the masses" proposal to snag some of the millions that BO/Congress are throwing in that direction.

I guess the questio will be how feasible is this "order of magnitude increase" satellite, how much will it cost, and how long will it take to deploy?

Maybe 2011 at earliest....my guess is there will be different plans...ViaSat will most likely have the first bird operational...

I would rather see them improve the ping times and the rain fade/service drop issues.
