Someone on the mac thread mentioned that plugging in their work DNS servers in their Airport and Network preferences speeded up access and lookup times as opposed to using the single server provided by WildBlue through DCHP.

I plugged in verizion's L3 DNS servers and told my router to use those in addition to the DCHP supplied server and this has been nice. I like the idea considering how EVIL and hard to deal with past DNS poisoning/DNS hijacking has been when it broke out on other networks. It also seems strange that wildblue only assigns one DNS server. Does anyone else think using alternative DNS servers is a good idea? Why are lookups with alt DNS faster then the DCHP assigned DNS? Surly the default DNS from WB wouldn't add that many hops to resolving an address would it? I mean you get the DNS when your assigned an IP, your computer don’t have to check what the DNS server is when it wants to resolve www.yahoo.com does it?
